Song: The Missed Jump

Version 1

[Intro]
[Guitar Strumming]
[Harmonica Solo]
[Percussion]

I stood on the edge, my heart beating fast,
The gap was wide, but I thought I’d get past.
Blocks all around, my world so strong,
But with one small slip, it all went wrong.

All went wrong. Just have this song.

I thought I could do it, I knew I should,
But when I jumped, I didn’t land where I would.
My aim missed, the air was cold, and down I fell so quick,
A second lost, the ground was close, my stomach felt so sick.

It all went wrong. Now, I just have this song.

In the dark, I hear the groans, the monsters getting near,
Their glowing eyes, their creeping steps, they fill me up with fear.
My armor’s weak, my sword is bent, the night is closing in,
I face the gloom, I know too soon, the battle I can’t win.

The jump went wrong; just me and this song. Wrong, wrong, wrong.

[Guitar]

The shadows move, the arrows fly, my hearts are running out,
With each lost heart, I feel the end, my hope begins to doubt.
My hunger grows, the world spins slow, it’s getting hard to see,
I wish I hadn’t missed that block; it’s too late now for me.

It’s too late now for me. All I can do it hum.

But even now, in all this dark, a tiny light stays bright,
A thought that maybe, just maybe, I can make this right.
Even though the end is near, and soon I’ll fade away,
I know I’ll wake, and try again, with the coming of the day.

Wrong once, wrong twice… humming this song.

[Slide Guitar]

So as I fall, and close my eyes, the world will turn to black,
But I’ll be back, and when I am, I’ll take that jump right back.

[End]
