Found it deep beneath the stone
Where the portal cracked and overgrown
A purple flame that never dies
And tears that fall from hollow eyes
It watched the builders light the flame
And never saw them come again
It kept their echoes, still and cold
A memory that won’t let go
And it cries…
For the lost and left behind
And it cries…
While the world forgets in time
It don’t speak
But I swear I heard it call
Whisperin’ what the Obsidian saw
Winds move through the broken frame
Whistlin’ low like it knows my name
I see the fire behind the glass
Still burning through the distant past
And it cries…
For the hands that struck the stone
And it cries…
For a fate it faced alone
Can’t go back
But I swear I heard it call
Tellin’ me what the Obsidian saw
It don’t sleep, it don’t fade
Keeps the ghosts inside the flame
If you listen when it rains
You might hear them all the same
And it cries…
Where the portal once would gleam
And it cries…
In the gaps between the dreams
Still it waits
Though the fire’s lost its draw
Cryin’ slow
For what the Obsidian saw
