Welcome back to Humble News! We’ve got a packed issue for you this week, starting with a huge happy birthday to our HPM, ZanjoBanjo! To celebrate, we’re featuring a custom build and a special song dedicated to her in this edition. Plus, don’t miss our exclusive sit-down with ChillWildBill, where we talk favorite server memories and get a sneak peek at what’s coming up next!
Our HPM’s Special Day!
Since Zanjo has played a part in every single Good Deeds HQ build, it was only fitting that she finally received a custom birthday build of her own! Beyond being our tireless HPM, Zanjo is a devoted volunteer with the Coalition for the Prevention of Naked Llamas. Llamas bring her immense joy, and dressing them up in vibrant, colorful clothes brings her even more, making a giant birthday llama build the perfect gift. It serves as a cozy sanctuary for her llamas and features her very own bedroom so she can sleep the night (and the creepers) away. Hidden secretly underneath the build lies a surprise: The Pink Llama Club! Complete with a light-up dance floor, booming speakers, and a main stage. This underground party spot was inspired by the iconic song Chief wrote in Zanjo’s birthday honor.

Wild Ideas and Big Builds:
Catching Up with ChillWildBill
Where does the name ChillWildBill come from? Is it an accurate description of your playstyle, or is ‘chill’ just a cover for the wild antics on the server?
So, the name actually comes from my grandpa’s nickname Wild Bill so when he passed, I changed my username almost everywhere in his honor. Before I went by TacoMonkeyCat–terrible right?

You’ve balanced megaprojects with a pretty relaxed playstyle. What’s your secret to avoiding Minecraft burnout when building such large and expansive builds.
Well, I “may” have ADHD although it’s not diagnosed, but because of it I often will start random builds on the fly to keep me entertained–hey look a squirrel.

Let’s talk about your starter build, that open-mouth fossil. It made me so jealous I didn’t think of it first! What inspired that concept for a starter base?
Well, it’s a design I’ve been using for a long time and it’s fairly cheap, minus the floors. To be honest I’m not sure why I started making it, besides the fact that it’s wicked cool.

Moving from the fossil to the absolutely giant tree: how far along is it, and what has been the most painful part of placing that many blocks? And what’s the final vision for the tree?
It’s more than two thirds done- thank the lord- and the absolute worst part has been the leaves, since it’s an annoying to place and even more to farm. Thank you to everyone who is helping or helped with the tree. Fun Fact I have a word Doc that contains, along with several other projects, the resource count for this build.

You handed out blown-out beacons as gifts to everyone on the server, which is an absolute flex in survival. What drives you to be so generous?
Well unfortunately not everyone got one since I lost track after awhile (Please message me if you need one) I farmed way too many and figured hey why not give some away these folks are nice.

Your armor hall features full sets of netherite armor. Do you actually use them or are they strictly for flex rights?
Well, when somebody dies, I usually offer them a set also if I happen to be on at the same time as a new player I try to give them some, that way our death count doesn’t get even higher. ZANJO cough cough

Word on the street is that you have a secret base hidden at everyone’s main base. How have you managed to pull that off without ever getting caught during construction? Or were you almost caught once? How did you decide where to put them?
They aren’t at everyone’s- yet. I pull it off by being online at weird hours I suppose. I mostly look for spots that might have gaps or holes in the wall, but I’m not going to give out all my secrets. (:

You’re known for keeping things light with harmless pranks. What’s been your favorite prank on HumbleCraft so far, and has anyone managed to get you back yet?
Unfortunately, nobody’s found my favorite one yet, it’s at WatchMikers base, I named the iron golem little guy and the copper golem at Gizario’s shop big guy. Surprisingly only once or twice, one time my storage was stuffed with chickens, and what gave me a scare was when the Netherite beacon at spawn went missing, turns out whoever did just put it in a barrel inside the deepslate shell.

You’re out here making your own homemade jam and fixing AC units in real life. Does that same ‘I’ll figure out how to build or fix it myself’ mindset apply to Redstone farm mechanics, or troubleshooting complex builds online?
I’m stubborn enough it’ll work eventually as evidenced by my latest contraption in my storage room the 3×3 piston door, although it may not be the prettiest solution but I find doing it myself is the only way I can improve just don’t try that with real life Redstone, or do if you like fire, I can’t stop you. Prettyyyy fireeee (:

Huge thanks to ChillWildBill for taking the time to share these fantastic stories with us! Honoring family roots with a tribute username while also secretly sneaking pranks into bases and grinding out thousands of leaves for that massive tree, Wild Bill keeps the HumbleCraft spirit alive and the server full fun. If you happen to need a hand replacing your gear after a tragic death (looking at you, Zanjo!), or just want to admire some seriously impressive building, you know who to go to.
