Humble News, Volume 21

The waiting game is officially over, Humbugs!

The latest Minecraft update was moving at a snail’s pace for HumbleCraft, leaving Chief downright heartbroken and the rest of us practicing our virtue of patience. But just when we thought we’d be staring at the same old horizon forever, BAM! When the morning arrived, the Humbugs logged on, geared up, and set off on an epic exploratory adventure for the Sulfur Caves!

The Race for Chaos Cubed

The underground of HumbleCraft is about to get an overhaul. With the arrival of the Chaos Cubed update, our builders and explorers are officially locked in a race to discover the brand-new Sulfur Caves biome.

Chaos Cubed Challenges Completed

  1. Discover a natural Sulfur Cave first: Jester
  2. Create a working Geyser first: Cosmic Dragon
  3. Bring back a Sulfur Cube: Zanjo Banjo

While most of us are still dusting off our adventuring gear Xrogg is already living in the future. He has spent time pre-linking portals in the Nether, perfectly positioned to burst through into ungenerated chunks the second the update goes live.

Rumor has it he’s also finalized an automated Sulfur Spike farm (leveraging their natural growth mechanics like dripstone) to mass-produce the new building blocks for all the Humbugs. If you need polished cinnabar or chiseled sulfur bricks for your next project, you know whose door to knock on.

Neilo did some scouting and tracked down a fantastic spot featuring two active geysers. To make sure nobody has to make a grueling trek to see them, he already hooked up a nether portal link so all Humbugs can hop right through and check out the new view with ease.

If you haven’t checked your mail yet, you’re in for a treat. Zanjo Banjo played server Santa this week, leaving a full stack of the brand-new blocks in everyone’s mailboxes. It’s the perfect jumpstart to get our creative gears turning, so make sure to clear some inventory space and grab your delivery.

If you want a quick preview of the new mechanics, head over to spawn. Cosmic Dragon put together a brilliant little exhibition piece: a miniature hot spring geyser right at the heart of the server, giving everyone an up-close look at exactly how they behave.

Sulfur Cubes:
Gaming District’s Newest Nightmare?

The Sulfur Cubes are definitely going to cause some chaos in the Gaming District. With the block-eating physics, the Sulfur Cubes are a ready-made game engine inside Minecraft. Instead of just dodging standard mobs, we can now engineer literal sports and physics-based arcade games. Imagine a massive air hockey rink using ice-mutated “pucks,” a chaotic game of dodgeball with high-velocity wood cubes, or an explosive game of tennis where you’re punching a TNT-infused cube back and forth before it pops. Minigame builders are going to have a field day turning the Humble Gaming District into a literal sports arena where the ball changes the rules of the game.

Speaking of nightmares, Gizario set up an area to breed sulfur cubes at his base and things went well! A little too well. He came back from his AFK break to find hundreds of cubes and tons of lag! How could this have happened? Could this be connected to the Ember stone at his base? Sulfur Cubes are found in the new sulfur caves, which is also where cinnabar is found. Cinnabar and Ember stone are both red, both found in areas of eruption, and both come from underground… experiments and sleuthing will need to be done to see if this is the culprit.

That’s a Wrap

I’ve spent so much time documenting everyone else’s wild adventures that I haven’t even had a chance to go on any myself! My own mailbox is full of Zanjo’s gift blocks, Neilo’s portal is sitting there waiting, and those bouncy, block-eating cubes are calling my name. That’s it for this week’s updates! I am officially logging off, grabbing a empty bucket, and heading out to hunt down the sulfur springs! See you all out there!
